Rare? 1984 Mitchell 350A.

Photoroom-20240329_125425_3.png This is a 1984 Mitchell 350A. I've been looking for a good example of this model for 10 years. I first learned of it's existence when I noticed it referred to and pictured on a Mitchell Sports box a 300A came in. In that time, I've only found two for sale. One my dad...

Re: New kind of 304

Here's a picture of the 3-0-1 by itself and a picture of a left handed Mitchell with the Mitchell 3-0-1. The left handed Mitchell is a 4th version. The engraving on all lefthanded Mitchell reels in the 3rd and 4th versions are upside-down. The first 3-0-1s of the 5th version were also upside-down. E...

Re: New kind of 304

20240327_102120.jpg What you have there is a sideplate for an early Mitchell 3-0-1. This reel (series number 811890) was made just as the model numbers started to appear on the sideplates. In fact, the seller of this reel listed it as a 304. It was easy to figure out because it was on a complete re...

Re: Very strange transfer geat and an extremely late 3rd version housing.

So, I had already started a 4th version study when I found this transfer gear. At the time, I had no idea these transfer gears were in the 4th version reels. This really drove me to start keeping detailed notes on all of them that I had. That cause me to fall into an absolute rabbit hole and collect...

Very intresting. This is the first 4th version I've found this transfer gear in.

Very strange transfer geat and an extremely late 3rd version housing.

I just got this 4th verson reel and there are two interesting things about it. The first I noticed is it's serial number, 235892, on a 3rd verson housing. Unless there's been a later sn found since the publication of the book, this is the latest 3rd verson housing. Second, the transfer gear is very ...
