Went on holiday to Croatia where we visited the town of Split.
It was still early in the morning and I was asking if there were fishing tackle shops nearby .
There was 1 and within 3 minutes I found the location.
Went inside for a look and at first glance nothing special.
Looked a bit better and spotted a Mitchell Garcia 301 in mint condition .
The woman behind the counter told me that the reel was not for sale.
I showed her some pictures of my collection and she said that i could take a picture of the 301 .
When I had the reel in my hands I could not find a serial number on it....

regards Dries

Hello Dries, I don't know if it's the way your photo showed up or is it just my imignation but it seems that the foot that sets on the reel seat looks sort of short to my eyes. Maybe their playing tricks on me. Regards , John in Pa. USA

Hi Dries,

Thank you for the report on "where you never would expect to find a Mitchell reel but still do". I think your share just goes to show how universal and wide spread Mitchell reels were and still are. As we both know, that is a mid 1970s Garcia Mitchell 301 - not an uncommon reel but very interesting that the shop was not willing to sell it...….The Mitchell passion is Global :sHa_yes: . Also interesting that it had no serial number. Thank you for sharing and hope you had a wonderful Holiday in Croatia :tup .

Best Regards,
