Post subject:  First Mountain Day 2019

A two hour drive from my house...parked at 5:30 AM...38 degrees at the trailhead...a four mile pack-in through dense old growth conifer forest in the Pacific Northwest northern Cascade mountains, 1000' in elevation gain, and only the last mile on snow...the snow on two 100 yd rock slide traverses was ice...wishing for a pair of crampons and praying for footing...it's a long steep tumble down once you get going...it's worth it, because the scenery is breathtaking and the fishing ain't bad either...get to the lake and pump up the raft...dead calm all moring...35 degrees warming to 60 in the afternoon with a slight breeze...trolled a Fifties wooden F3 Flatfish I got from my dad...painted it sparkly chrome with a bright red tip (from the wife's fingernail paint drawer)...they strike it hard...lost count...probably 30 Brookies and Rainbows from 12-14" with a few 15"s...It's God's country...Enjoy

Hi Sandman, Beautiful pictures, I don't know what your occupation is or was but if you weren't a photographer you missed your calling. Trout and shad fishing in Pa. has been terrible this spring, nothing but rain off and on for weeks and below average temps.I see your still using that antique Fronce. Tight lines and regards, John in Pa. :sCh_fisherman:

Sandman,
As usual great photos! Nice to be alone and in your own element.
Though retired I always said " A bad day fishing, is better than any day working".
Oscillator1, I've been out at least 3 times a week. Some days harder than some, but the trout have found their way to my hook. By the way flounder opens in NJ May Friday May 24th.
Keep em coming Sandman!!
