Hi Mitchell Mates does anyone know how many Mitchell 300 reel copies were made ?
I was recently shown an Olympic 81 reel and it does look like a full bail 300 from the 1960s, the guy who owned it informed that the internals on the Olympic 81 are very similar to the Mitchell 300 and that there are other copies of the 300, mostly made in Japan. !!!
Regards Grahamwin

I bought a Roddy once because at first glance in a stack of rods at a yard sale it looked like a Mitchell, upon a quick inspection of course it was easy to se it wasn’t but the similarity induced my buying it,I think it and the pole were a Roddy combo and it’s a good reel and rod ,

I've seen good reviews on the Olympic Model 8, but I have none of these personally to confirm the reviews.

With prices being so reasonable on Michell's, I personally don't see a reason to buy a clone, unless you're seeking them for you collection. Parts may not be identical and finding clone parts would most-likely be difficult,

I acquire old Mitchell’s when’re they are cheap enough and I’m there,I also collect old Penn conventionals,I also buy any old rod or reel that appeals to me and is cheap, and has some history or was reasonably fairly well known, price and looks, something that takes me down memory lane.
