Post by wheels »

I will have to get some photographs after I service it, but I just picked up a Mitchell 300 from goodwilll with a lower number stamped ont he body thatn those listed in the dating section which lists the lowest number seen thus far as 40779.

This reel is stamped 15447. Much lower.

wheels,
:text-welcomeconfetti: to the Mitchell Reel Museum.
The list that Wallace created for dating purposes was put together with only reels he had access to, so it is very possible to have a 300 with a lower number.
Mitchell went through a series of changes on their serial numbers beginning with no serial number at all, to five digit serial numbers with either an A,B,C in front of those numbers, to the type of SN that you have. They sold so many reels that they had to change again in 1971 to SNs beginnings with
alpha characters.
Looking forward to your pics.
