Small 308 Issues

Post by Big E »

This is a very informative site. I've used the service info on my father in laws 308 and it works great. However, i have a 308 that is smaller and it looks different on the internals, that I'm trying to fix. The bail catch isnt holding and it kind of knocks when realing.
Any ideas?

Biggy, there was only one size of the 308 model ever made.

Your bail won’t stay because the bail trip lever is bent. You can use needle nose to bend the part of the trip lever that extends outside of the rotating head back into position…small adjustments at a time until you find the correct shape. This will also stop the knocking where the trip lever is rubbing against the rotating head.

Photos are always good.
