I’m looking to buy four used 301 side plates. Does not matter the condition as long as functional. Also, I’m looking to buy one used 301 rotating head.

Jeremy
Thanks

Jeremy,
You should be able to find both new and used 301 cover plates.
Here is one thing you might want to keep in mind. :sCo_hmmthink:

As time went on the 300/301 cover plates evolved. They started out with a boomerang shaped anti-reverse lever and ended up with a straight lever. At one point, early on, the engraving on the cover plate was upside down. :sFun_bricks: The words and numbers on the cover plates, also changed over time, so a 1950 cover plate does not look like a 1970 cover plate.

Although not as easy as just using any random cover plate on your reels, finding and replacing them with the correct plate for that particular version, can also be fun and rewarding to many of us.

You can identify which version of the 301 models you have right here at the MRM.

Hope this helps.
Kind Regards, :tup
Bill

Good day Jeremy,

I have a Mitchell 301 that was given to me. It is in good working condition. I would like to send it to you. If you can give me your mailing address I will do so. I do not want anything for the reel, I want it to have a good home.

Let me know if you re interested, you can email me at:

gsimpson@accesswave.ca

Good evening Jeremy,

I didn’t think that that pm that I sent before had worked. I am not the best with this tech stuff, the email address seemed to do it, but I found the pm you sent. Sorry for this.

I will forward the reel to your address within the next few days. I am sending it by Surface Mail, so it should take a couple of weeks.

I will also include a 301 body with some of the internal parts and a baffle plate. I got these pieces in a bag of parts from a guy here, I was able to put a 300 together from this gift.

I don’ want you to pay anything for shipping. I am sure you pay it forward.

I know how much harder a 301 (and parts) is to find than a 300 is.

I enjoyed exchanging posts with you about carp fishing last year, although I have only caught one carp, LOL.

Best wishes

Glen

That’s okay, I just want it to get used and I knew you are using 301s. I packaged it today and will mail it tomorrow or Wednesday, I am off on Wednesday, so it will likely be then.

The extra 301 body is in nice shape. It is a good idea to have an extra in case someone steps on one of your reels or it gets dropped and the foot is broken. Then you can just change it out. I had to do this with a reel that was given to me last year.

Hoping it will not be too long coming to you.

Glen
