I recently purchased this 300 and a 410 from the same seller online.
There was no mention of the 300 being unusual, but I noticed in the pictures, it had what appears to be a Peacock engraved into the side plate...
The depth of engraving appears to match the Mitchell 300, so I assume it is factory, but after searching for info, I have not found anything. The serial number has some wear on it and the only thing I can make out for sure is 6555 but it looks like there may be a 7 in front of the 6. Past that it is very hard to make out any other numbers.

Any help and info on this reel would be greatly appreciated.
I have tried to include a picture, but my files are to large, and Photobucket isn't cooperating with my editing right now.

Thanks

Mike

Hello Mike 408,

Welcome to Mitchellmates :sSig_welcome2:
The Mitchell 300 is a Balzer, made for the German market .
It is not rare in Germany but an unusual find in the USA !

Enjoy the site .

best regards ,

Dries :sAni_fish:

Hi Dries. Thanks for the welcome, and the great information.
I very much appreciate it.

I've been using Mitchell reels since about the age of 13, which was 41 years ago. I have been reading here for awhile, but decided it was time to join. I just recently started collecting, and have a lot to learn.
