My Garcia Mitchell 300`s serial # is B 231393 . According to what I read on the " Dating " page , my reel appears to be c 1972 . I also saw the section relating to 1950 / 1952 reels with SN " A, B, & C " prefixes , alphanumeric serial numbers . My serial # is also alphanumeric , having 1 letter and 6 numbers . The 1950 / 1952 model reels also have a single letter prefix . My question is how many numbers follow the A ,B , & C prefixes on these early 1950`s models ? Thanks !

Greeting nachomike,
:sSig_welcome4: to the Mitchell Reel Museum.
The early 50's Mitchells had only 5 numbers, so yours would be a reel produced in the 70's.
To add to that, there were several differences in the reels made between those two periods. The biggest being that the earlier reel, probably, has just a half-bail, and the anti-reverse levers are made differently.

You can check out the info. and pictures in the Gallery and use the "Mitchell Vintage Reel Photographs" link to see the difference I mentioned.

Regards,

Ted Lanham

What style anti-reverse? Chevron 50's, lever 70's. Usually..
