Another year come and gone. Mitchell reels and Conolon rods are very scarce there. 2000 lots of stuff on sat, 2200 on fri. Since I work sat was my only option. There were a total of 4 lots of 4-5 poles of rods there for Saturday. 1 bunch of 5 with 4 conolon rods the others with 1 conolon the rest whatever. I won the 4 conolon rods due to they were laying on the floor and people never bent down to pick them up. The bunch included Garcia Companion 2131 7' gold, Garcia 2101T 6 1/2' gold, Garcia 2102T 7' gold and Garcia silver with label worn off. 2 will be used for fishing since they are not collector quality. The 2nd lot I won a Garcia Companion 2121 extra ul 5' gold. Great shape. While looking at this rod I noticed a stamp in the female rod ferrule. Have to get a magnifying glass to see what it reads. Anyone else have one like this??? Also in this lot was a Shakespeare 5' ul "professional" rod. Any sites out there to get info on this rod?? Thanks for any help.
PS- Never bid on other rods. Would have had to wait another 2 hours for a chance to win them. Some deep pockets there. Thanks for any help....
Kim

Hi Kim,

Your summation of Lang's sounds about dead on. My sources that
keep an eye out for me said the same thing. Very little Mitchell reels or Conolon rods. I did hear the outdoor flea market was good for everyone other than the Mitchell collector. Some day I will get there!
Hope you are well. Cheers

Regards, Scott

Hi Scott,
My wife saw some Conolon rods at the outdoor market show. I was concentrating on what Lang's had. With 2000 lots you had to look stuff over in a hurry. Lucky (?) for me I'm after Mitchell, Conolon or Garcia only. If something else catches my eye then so be it. The rods according to my wife were around $30 - $35 each. Don't know of condition because when the auction started they packed up. Maybe attended the auction. Many times people will buy stuff the first day and try to sell it the second for a profit. The Bouckville Antique Market was to start on Monday. Many people came early to set up in hopes of selling early also. My wife went to those people but not me. You snooze you lose. With each Lang's lot over in an average of 30 - 40 seconds. They don't mess around...

Hi Kim,

I cannot disagree with anything in your note.
Sounds like your wife and mine would get along pretty well. She has a damn good keen eye on the "Mitchell" and "Garcia" stuff I look for. I guess the old saying is true, 2 sets of eyes are better than 1. Cheers!

Regards, Scott
