Narmco Conolon decal flyrods s.jpg

Hey Mates,

Does anyone know anything about the logo/mark decal above? It's on two 9-foot flyrods coming in the mail to me. No model, no city, no "Live Fiber" on the rods. It seems to be rare/unusual; I can't find another photo of it anywhere.

John

Hi John,

WOW! :sFun_eyescan: . That decal is a new one on me. I'm not a huge rod collector but I do have a few and have researched the conolon rods somewhat but never came across any decal like that. The rod material clearly resembles my early conolon rods with the more common labels. Interesting find and would be interested in your observations.

Kind Regards,
Chris

Hey Chris,

Thanks for your interest.

If there is one thing I am confident about this decal, it's that it is very rare. I've posted my help request at 2 other forums. I did get some good replies on the characteristics of the rods (which I haven't posted more pictures of here). Except for one person, no one replied that they had seen the decal before. That person connected me with someone who has 1 rod with the same decal (right side not present - explained below), however also nothing definite on a date of origin.

The rods have some features that point to them being very early Narmco (~1947). I will need to list these with supporting points and high quality photos. Yet, there are a couple of other elements that need to be explained, as they could be taken to mean not the earliest (~1951).

It turns out there is a right side to the decal (not visible in the seller's photo above). Only one of the rods had a complete decal (photo below), while the other rod's decal had had the right side razored off.

John

Hi John,

Thank you for sharing an awesome find :sHa_clap2: I've never seen that decal/labeling before and can't find that style in any of my advertising. All I can say is WOW! :sFun_shocked: just amazing.

Kind Regards,
Chris
