I am starting to make my own rods. I have befriended a veteran builder, that has helped a lot trying to get my first build together. In return for his help I sent him a 204, for crappie fishing, and some parts he received today. To my surprise he has 3 Conolon blanks, and offered me them. I can not in my right mind take all 3, wouldn't be a fair trade. I may work something out with him later, for now I want to make a first build.
Here's were I hope you guys will help me decide which blank I want. I do mostly UL trout fishing, that the blank will be for.
The numbers are 80018, 10719 & 149. Anything you can tell me about them would appreciated.
Thank in advance!

May your lines always be tight, Don

Well I did find out the 80018 blank, is most likely from the early '80s. Due to the fast action. It's a 75" blank I have the handle, reel seat, and tip top on. It's going to make a 204 or 308 very happy trout fishing.

So I now have a vintage/new Conolon rod. The build is a vintage blank with rapid reduction guides. Real nice feeling rod, very light, and casts well. Can't wait for the weather to clear, to use it.

Hi Don,
Very nice looking rod. Good job. I look forward to seeing many pics of the big fish(s) caught on this nice fishing outfit.
Best regards, Dennis2149

Ready to do another Conolon Build. My friend is giving me another blank 6’ #149. Going to cut it down to a 5 1/2' trout rod. Love the 1st build, but at 6 1/4' it's a little long for my trout streams.
