Hello Mates,
The following sentences (Attached below) are from one of the first Mitchell schematics posted in the MRM and they are written in French. Could anyone please translate them for me?

I am hoping to learn more about the early parts that were available from Mitchell.

Kind Regards,
Bill :tup

Dear Bill,

It's explaining how to lubricate.

Graissage mechanisme = lubrication for the mechanism.

Tres mole = very soft. So it's recommending a soft grease. 2 brands are named.

Axe = axle. It's recommending fine white oil for the axle.

The reference to Vaseline is interesting, because I know fisherman who use Vaseline to lubricate their reels with good results.

Regards,

JF.

Mates,
I recently stumbled upon something printed in the 1946 Mitchell reel schematic which is shown in the schematics section of the MRM. (See the schematic by clicking on the link below)

http://www.mitchellreelmuseum.com/index ... schematics

See attached below for a close-up image of the portion of the schematic I am referring to.

The notation in the schematic shows the following in the original French.

"GRAISSAGE MECANISME: GARGOYLE, GRAISSE C. N. TRES MOLLE OU GARGOYLE, GREASE SOVAREX NO. 1 VACUUM OIL COMPANY. AXES: HUILE BLANCHE FINE (HUILE VASELINE)"

Translated into English it reads:

"LUBRICATION MECHANISM: GARGOYLE, GREASE C. N. VERY SOFT OR GARGOYLE, GREASE SOVAREX NO. 1 VACUUM OIL COMPANY. AXES: FINE WHITE OIL (VASELINE OIL)"

Could this be at long last the actual grease Mitchell used in their reels at the factory? :sCo_hmmthink:

Kind Regards,
Bill :tup

Thanks to Jeremy Fisher for his help in translating. :D
